BEHIND THE SCENES BEAUTY

Jena Goldsack & Steven Chee are 100% my DREAM TEAM.

I couldn’t be happier to work with such incredible talent.  They make me happy to be a make up artist!

Let me tell you a little story, and it’s a quick one I promise.

Back in 2014, actually it was my first job of that year, I worked with this incredible model (that would be Jena) who had flown over from London and my all time favourite photographer Steven Chee.  If you haven’t checked out his work already, you NEED to.  Most of my make up portfolio has been photographed by him.

So we did this shoot.. Steven LOVES doing these beautiful black and white images with super basic hair and make up, so in return for me doing that he let’s me get a little creative for the rest of our shoot.

Below are a couple of the images we created that day.  The black and white one went INSANELY viral.  It was incredible… and mind blowing.. and completely unexpected.  My whole Instagram feed was filled with this shot that we had worked on, the Kardashian-Jenner family posted about it, it was literally everywhere.  To this day I’m still often tagged in a #regram of it!

The glitter one wasn’t an internet sensation as such, but it’s still one of my favourite images.  I love playing with glitter & Jena looks like such a fox!

I’d also like to add here that Jena is actually a LEGEND.  Not only is she beautiful, and funny, she is so chilled to work with.  Most models reaction to you asking them to lay on the floor while you cover a large proportion of their bodies in glitter would be something like: “REALLY? Will this be hard to remove? I’ll be covered for days!” Which is completely fair to be honest because the answer to that question is “yes, you will find glitter attached to you, your clothes, your pets, your boyfriend, and it’ll probably happen for at least the next week”, but Jena just gets amongst it.  No complaints.  Smile on her face.  It’s one of the reasons I adore working with her.  Steven apparently has the video of me doing it so I’m trying to track it down for you, I’m sure it’s a funny one!

YouTube wasn’t on my radar back then so I never filmed the make up process, but fast forward to 2016 when I bumped into Jena at The Bucket List in Bondi I knew first of all that we HAD to do a part 2 of our original shoot and secondly, that I absolutely must film it for my channel!

Here’s JENA, VOLUME 2.

Screen Shot 2016-02-28 at 8.04.20 pmWe started with an uber natural black and white, of course, then progressed to a still natural but beautifully highlighted look.  You know me, I had to get a highlight in there somehow!

Just to clarify, the above image on the left, that was taken by me – not Steven! Haha. That was just a little behind the scenes shot I took of Jena.

The image above on the right, that’s when I got to add glitter all over again! I kept it minimal in comparison to last time, but I still LOVE it & I hope you do too! Her face gives me life.  What a stunner!

To finish off this story -the one that went for a little longer than expected, I have the YouTube video! I talk you through the look and the products I used so you can see us in action!
